How to Apply for Home Grant in QLD
First Home Owners' Grant QLD Application Guide
Cash is almost always a consideration when buying your own home for the first time.
The Queensland First Home Owners Grant is a state government initiative to help first home owners to get their new first home sooner.
Check out this guide to help you get your first ever home owners’ grant.
Check Your Eligibility
There are certain criteria to meet for you to be eligible for a first home owners’ grant.
Age - You and your co-applicants must be 18 years of age.
New Home - Make sure that the home that you are going to buy or build must be new. Its value must not exceed $750,000, including the land. We have already released the land in Gowrie Junction Road, Cotswold Hills, Toowoomba, for you to choose an ideal place.
Citizenship - You and your co-applicant must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident. If you are not a permanent resident, but your spouse is an Australian citizen, there is a chance that you may be eligible for the grant if you meet other eligibility criteria.
Investment Properties - If you own an interest in any residential property since July 1, 2000, which has been used solely for investment purposes, you may be eligible for the grant on a subsequent property.
Other criteria for you or your spouse to be eligible for first home owners’ grant are as follows:
- You must not own a property in Australia.
- You must not have received a first home owner grant in any state or territory of Australia.
- You must not own home before July 1, 2000.
Accept and Commit to Your Obligations
Note that anyone who will own any part of your new home must be included in the original application for a first home owners’ grant. Regardless of the number of applicants, you only need one application for your new home because one grant is payable per new home.
You have to submit the original application and it must be signed by all applicants, witnessed, completed in full, and accompanied by supporting documents such as proof of identity, contract, and final inspection certificate.
In making sure you don’t lose the grant, you must meet the residency requirements:
- Move into your new home within 1 year of the completed eligible transaction
- Live continuously in the new home for 6 months
- Tell the QLD government if you are unable to move into your home or have to move out of your home before you have lived there for continuous months within 14 days
Ways to Apply
If you’ve gathered all the requirements, you may submit the application through an approved bank or lending institution, or you may submit directly to the Office of State Revenue.
When you’ve submitted your application, you are now ready to receive your first home owners grant for QLD established homes. Your family can now enjoy the tranquil and protected grounds of Essence Estate.
